minecraft was at its best from beta 1.7.3 to release 1.5, after the redstone update it was just fucked. 1.7 was the most contentious update ever as far as exploration goes, 1.9 fucked combat, and everything after was just weird. i mostly just play old java and release bedrock on console/android but i've been playing mostly actively since beta 1.5.

Why not just get Jeb to make Minecraft 2? Massively more resources than even Hytale and they can actually legally use recognizable Minecraft elements like Creepers.
The spinoffs all fail because Minecraft is only good when its core is computer legos. I doubt a new mob and wood type every couple years is drawing in new sales; in fact I'm sure most sales for almost a decade have been from inertia.

I'd like to see a mod for "remixed" Minecraft that makes all of the weird mobs they've added into the game over the years into the overworld and act like if they were from the early days. So the evil Villagers would spawn at night, you can make Turtle soup, kill the OP pic guy for meat, etc

no, there are some technical blocks (hoppers, player detectors etc.) but those are not at all necessary for progression. The mod is very cool and I consider it a direct upgrade of beta 1.7.3, so if you're into the beta version, give it a try

Junk items from dirt blocks sounds either extremely overpowered and/or useless especially given the image showing ores on the output
If I can mass excavate dirt to get any of the output in bulk I didn't need to do it in the first place, but if the ratio of good outputs to shit ones is overtuned too much you'll be better off shoving sand into a recycler over mining as soon as you get one
The downside of needing fuel is almost completely negligible since there's plenty of infinite fuel methods in vanilla with various levels of player interaction and I can guarantee any mod adding this item probably adds something that makes infinite fuel early game with no player interaction easy, like being able to dispense buckets on cauldrons to drain lava would be the most obvious I can think of

It's basically like if a compost accepted dirt-like blocks.
If you're terraforming and have a double chest of dirt that you won't ever use, you can "recycle" it to different nuggets of other resources. The yield is often not worth the effort of excavating, the only times I've used it in my playthroughs is when I had way more dirt than I needed and wanted it gone from my chests in exchange for a small amount of other, more useful resources

I still remember the wonder and curiosity that Minecraft's alpha instilled in me the first time I played it, it was peak soul. Any kind of big addition was bound to "ruin it" eventually, it worked because of its simplicity and openness after all

Kind of unrelated but I saw a video on youtube with a popular mod that is similar to that Parasite mod but actually good and this is the first mod that looks good in many years (forgot name)

you said you decided to play "OG" and didn't play the OG at all of course im going to ridicule you for that. a good alternative depends on what you want, since you expressed you wanted to actually play the tekkit suite, unironically playing the old b1.7.3 versions are best, IC2 and forestry are good for 1.12 but buildcraft is an unfinished mess. 1.7 could work but id rather just play beta, again
there have been talks of IC2 and buildcraft getting ported to nuversions but it hasn't happened yet, though IC2 has some meh to okay alternatives. forestry was updated fairly recently
if you dont want to play the big 3, CABIN as the other anon mentioned is a good introduction to create

From what I know the mod devs are the ones complaining when someone dares to use their stuff or update it.
So I am generally indifferent at this point.
Unless I feel like making my own modpack again, I likely wont play anthing beyond the OG that you mentioned.

if you ever end up making your own pack again 1.7 is the way to go, it has the most amount of mod variety of any version, with several near one of a kind mods being only on that version. 1.12 is good too because it has a lot of smaller mods to help you tweak your pack to perfection, so either is fine really
