I think what it mostly is, is that Asians don't want to look like 'that'. In truth, most people don't want to be black/brown (look at the most common BG3 character or even the fact that the one white guy on Validate a LGBT BIPOC dating sim made by that sort was the most popular romance).
Look at Genshin, one of the most popular games that is focus grouped to hell and the fact that the two regions known for having brown people (the India and Mexico expy) and there are no notable designs that are brown. Both archons are as white as bone.
Sorry bud, RE5 might be the only game because it was a novel concept that still had to be watered down. Most people around the world agree that brown is not beautiful.
