Don't get me wrong it's a great UI, I just wish UI in general could get talked about and appreciated without being so loud and obviously highlighted, since that's a style choice that only works for a handful of games

It's great that they upped the UI game with Persona 5 because now they're unable to release a Persona remake / new game without at least trying to 'match' it in some way
If they ever pivot to more 'generic' looking UIs then everyone will immediately complain and say old game better

UI does not get talked about, because nobody tries anything new no more. They don't even try to fit the UI to match the setting, not to mention about cool style choices like fitting it into the game-world as a physical entity.

Which is why P5's stands out. It both stylish AND shockingly easy to read. It's interesting to look at, and practical. Plus it fits the game's anarchistic tone.

And it's just ONE (1) game, that was released 10 years ago, that did anything of the sort.
I don't know why you'd shit on the only exception to the modern AAA slop.

You can see all demons you can fuse using your current roaster. You have to buy a demon from compendium before you see what it can fuse into

Honestly, I've always found the UI of Persona 5 to be fucking ugly.
Metaphor in the other hand, is fucking fantastic and doesnt make my eyes bleed

Completely different dev studios. The last smt game most persona devs worked on was nocturne, so that's why the fusion is still so similar to nocturne

The "minimum viable product" mentality already hit the gaming industry 20 years ago. It's just been an endless slippery slope since.

The new Resident Evil devs for example "tried to" recreate the classic inventory looks for the DEmake of RE2 and up, but they apparently didn't know how to do it, and eventually ran out of time, as Crapcom was fixated on getting the game out for the OG games' 30th anniversary.

Just goes to show that kicking out all the old, skilled industry vets + rushing out the projects eventually leads to decline of standards, meaning sub-par mediocrity becomes the new golden standard.
