Cthulu isn't in this one. Deep ones are in it though, and they're an actual threat that can fuck you up in this game unlike most depictions of them (Dark Corners). I think it references other lovecraft stories but to be honest the game really is it's own thing separated from Lovecraft. It's alot like Twin Peaks and X Files mixed with Delta Green.

Post your favorite lovecraftian mook monster and if you say deep ones you're a fag.
For me it's the byakhee

Lovecraftian horror needs subtlety and patience with a great deal of attention to detail. Most developers and players don't have patience for that, would call the game "boring".

Well said. It's definitely a setting much better suited for books than vidya.
The "incomprehensibility" is pretty much impossible to accomplish in 3D.

I probably should have googled what "mook monster" means before posting this...
Uh, I guess hunting horrors are cool.

I don't remember but what were those? They were winged monsters or something right?

They're weird flying insect-bird-horse-dragon things, and iirc they're associated with hastur.

I mostly know those things fro infra Arcana. They can absolutely go get fucked in that game.

Tbh this game in general is reasonable for so many rage outs. It's probably the closest we will ever get to a good rpg/roguelike but in lovecraft setting

I kinda want to make one simply because it's barely been done and it sounds like an interesting challenge. You got fantasty RPGs, cyberpunk RPGs, post-apocalyptic RPGs, steampunk, vampires but not Lovecraftian?

The sinking city was such a let down. You're straight off the boat and there's just monster critters scurrying around everywhere
