I was stoked when he first joined, it was refreshing to get a villain join the main party. Then playing as him he realize how fucking lame he is.

Kongol literally does nothing the whole game and is only relevant in disc 4 when everyone is facing their inner demons/trauma/past. Hell, he sucks for the most part as a playable character.
Granted, Magus doesn't do much either. But he has more plot relevance, is a 'bigger' villain and has connection to the main antagonist.
