Back then, when Project 64 was the only emulator avaliable for the '64.
>If you enjoy our emulator, please donate....please?
>Ok, i am no longer asking. Every time you boot up you WILL have to wait before you play until you pay up.
>It used to be the generic phrase "thank you from project 64" that you can find online
But now time has passed, and there are more and more accurate and stable Nintendo 64 Emulators, and not only they didn't stop the panhandling, but removed to a generic code to a personal code that you have to receive directly from the devs, just if you didn't think they weren't insufferable enough.

Oh god I can't believe you reminded me of this. Used to go offline, not really by choice, but it did avoid that shit popping up. Very weird when I think about it.
I had no idea this shit happened. I don't play emulators often and I tried to play something recently and it just straight up didn't work. I ended up getting retroarch just because I wanted to play Banjo Tooie and not have to fuck around too much and it ran noticeably worse than project 64 did fucking 8 years ago.
People ask for money more aggressively because it works, people pay up. Just be glad there are people with disposable income that can fund development of the random shit you enjoy and can get for free...
>>715061656 (OP)pj64 was always the shitty emu for normies, same as epsxe
>>715061656 (OP)I'm surprised pj64 is still the only emulator that can rip models and textures easily. It's the only reason this piece of crap is still on my computer.
>>715061656 (OP)The Project64 dev was always a greedy fuck and it used to be even worse than that, did you forget about when they were bundling literal malware into the installer? There was even a thread on the official forums where all of the members supported it and sucked the dev's cock that they later had to delete in shame.
>>715061656 (OP)never happened to me, i'm still using project 64 1.6 which does not have this begging
and there's no reason for me to change
>>715061656 (OP)Ah yes, the dark ages of N64 emulation...
I'm a faggot who enjoys using texture packs. What's the best N64 emulator for this purpose?

I still use Project64
>b-but muh nagware!!!!
What nagware?
>>715068876I just use mupen in retroarch, but rosalies mupen GUI is probably also good. I know it was made with nerrels MM texture pack in mind.
That being said if you specifically just want MM with the texture pack you can do that with the recomp now.
>>715061656 (OP)Didn't they had to scrap future updates because someone discovered security flaws in their emulator?
>>715063616I wonder how many people pay for winrar
