Why are games constantly getting easier and more and more braindead? I recently replayed Pokemon Gen 3 Ruby and then Omega Ruby and the amount of fucking handholding and guidance was not just obnoxious, but it just took out any challenge out of the game. And this isn't just a pattern in pokemon games either. Other than games that specifically market themselves as "difficult" (which usually just means theyve got shitty mechanics or cheap traps that you gotta memorize through trial and error), most games nowaday are piss easy.

Why is this? Do people just have shorter attention spans nowadays?

I recently watched Wester do a 'speedrun' of Ultra moon and it was just a playthrough. Not because he's bad at speedrunning, but because 80% of the game was cutscenes and the gameplay was so incredibly easy.

BG3's based on the most idiot-proof edition in all of D&D. The only people who struggle with it are the types that don't realize you need to raise your attacking stat to reliably hit high-AC enemies.

You have to very autistic to be interested in speedrunning in general, but you have to be extremely autistic and practically brain-damaged to """""speedrun""""" shit like Pokemon, Undertale, Earthbound, Final Fantasy, etc. I understand that someone enjoys speedrunning platformers and stuff, but not RPGs.

Recently at bar trivia there was a "majority vote" question worth one point of about 80 where whichever teams picked the yes/no as a majority would gain the point. The question was whether or not you'd assassinate Hitler if you had the opportunity to go back in time and do it without being found out.

Now, ignoring whether or not you believe Hitler was right or wrong, doing so is an insane proposition. You are creating a grandfather paradox and destroying reality at worst, or preventing your own birth at best if you do this. It's absolutely fucking mental. If you are changing history to such a significant degree you are erasing your own existence. Anyway, long story short, I lost the majority vote and people called me racist when I tried to explain that they were fucking retarded.

And this is why we need handholding in games. The average adult would choke on their own feces if left to their own devices, as proven by those guys I hate. The entire video game industry would fail to be developed.
