I read about who started this, the anons are right that apparently the unwatchable tv filth like whatever andor is is also a factor.
Its well intentioned but too coonsoomer for me. They have encouraged a good number of retards to buy it for $40, though the majority did get it for $3-4. Its about principal more than anything.
The buzz is all pretty negative towards EA and even the dumbest marketer(again why now?) would understand that by this point in time. No money, no good press, no useful hype(theres no bf3 coming lmao)

It went on sale for $4, and it's a pretty decent game, that's all. All of the hero grinding has long since been removed, everything is unlocked in the regular Battlefield way buy just playing as classes and getting kills with weapons for attachments, and the progression counts for both multiplayer and co-op / single.

Game proves that Unreal 5 fucking sucks. This game looms better than any UE5, has no raytracing, and runs at 60fps maxed on a 1060.

It's two big factors
People like star wars and never really got to get it all out of their system. All the games and sidestories and new movies all just fizzled out. It's not surprise people would band around one very cheap and fairly solid one and say "fuck it, lets go for another spin".

The other half is that multiplayer games are fucking dead, almost every franchise and new title is some gimmicky trend chaser that dies in a week, or they're mobile game tier shit like what cod's been reduced to. If you just want a big dumb military shooter that isn't pretending to be esports and doesn't have a skin for Hey Arnold in it, you're fucked. So of course this is something they'd do. Just flood a big dead game and have a bit of fun. It's not like there's been much else in years to play.
