It depends what you mean by innovation. Something that's constantly improving is graphics, and they're noticeably better every year. Games are also a lot bigger than they used to be, and there's more to do.
Baldur's Gate 3 was pretty innovative. If you tried that, you'd know what I mean. It's fully voiced acted and the facial animations are high quality. It's like watching a movie when you're not in combat.
