Can someone explain the mindset of people who only play indie games and missing out on the clever tech advances made in AAA games?

They don't do that. All they do is graphics, and that's been stagnant since the PS3

AAA has not innovated nor impressed anyone these past 10-15 years.
Indies at least dare to try something new and appeal to a specific demographic.

The real answer is the games have nothing of value most of the time outside of the insane graphics. Maybe 1 game every 3 years or so catches my eye and I might buy it but it's mostly indie games for me. Anyone saying "graphics haven't improved" is dim. Compare ps3 movie games to UE5 and it's a night and day difference.

I'm trying to understand the mindset of the people who post in new threads instead of the 99% filtered section. I really hope there's nutjobs that post in every thread, because I would only meet them 1% of the time. That's 1 thread for every 100 they post in.

Graphics aren't really as important as the combination of gameplay, atmosphere, and ludonarrative
I can't think of anything novel thats come out of modern gaming, mostly safe retreats like every other industry right now
