>>715079984>So it isn't dying after all?as you can see it's mostly a meme, including disc rot and that "le disc is just a le loicense key" or whatever bullshit people like to say these days
the fact that people purchase less physical games is a undeniable and even then digital purchases also count cringe AI scam games, DLCs and games that never got a physical print in the first place like most indie games
for instance for first party playstation games the split is almost 50/50 and from the insomniac hack and the data we got the split was even higher in favour of physical over digital, for multiplats maybe it's different especially in case of games like cod where nowadays you won't be able to play the single player campaign without internet access which is madness but it's another topic
>Why all the outrage then?I don't know
>what is the fundamental difference between storing the data in a blu-ray or in a hard drive or ssd or sd cardhigh quality pressed physical media will most likely than not outive you unironically, your ssd/hdd not so much
I buy digital on very big discounts for dirt cheap, I just like my shelf with vidya that's all, I can do whatever I want with it, lend it, sell it, use it as a gift for someone, can't do that with digital really
