Why didn't Mass Effect 3 make its story work around the only 5 major decisions all players of Mass Effect 1 and 2 see no matter how they played the game? It wouldn't have been that hard.

2 sold so well ea knew most people who bought 3 never touched 1 and 2 so default me3 pretty much assumes you made the worst choices and the story brushed over everything else to pick up on the story from were 1 left off just giving 10 to 25 war score per province decision

They designed the game for people who never played the others before, that's why they also gave you new squad mates that nobody liked instead of bringing back everyone from 2 who you actually built relationships with

Default 3 is more like the choices that don't leave any confusing references. The witcher 3 is full of confusing references to previous games that hardly anyone played but it doesn't ruin the experience. You just feel like you should go spend some money on the previous entries. It's a bizarre choice to go for that in 3.
