There must have been some business 7D chess behind that decision. I refuse to believe Furukawa & co made their game less appealing because of wounded egos.

splat3 is a 2-year old game that has hit its planned end of life and it's somehow less dead than mkw that's a month old.

I think their matchmaking is just fucked, I would almost never find full 24 player lobbies, even before the change to Random.

I don't know why, but Splatoon 3 seems to have brilliant matchmaking (at least for me), and somewhat interesting take on netcode also. I can always find players to play with, and the game is very much playable, despite some of players being entirely different continent like japan, it just works.

People bitched and moaned about Pikmin 4's auto-lock since its launch, but Nintendo never patched a toggle for it. Whenever they come up with a shiny new gameplay idea, they refuse to concede that it may not work in execution.

They sure do have their priorities sorted out. Watch them hide DLC characters behind Kamek RNG too.

I played it for a few hours on launch day, nobody was online, and when you do get a game it's just an ordeal of 24 idiots mindlessly spamming crap at each other. Even the track designs feel underwhelming. I haven't been back to it since.

It's a failed experiment, Nintendo will have to take a long look at this and think about changes to the gameplay and matchmaking if it's going to endure. MK8 was a far, far better game.

I love Nintendo games but yeah I will gladly wear the Snoy badge of shame if necessary to tell it like it is regarding MKW

>>715113978
It is by far. Better course design, more personality, fantastic DLC, and it just feels like Mario Kart, which is what I want. MKW has some good ideas and some of the returning items are welcome, but it's horriblly unbalanced, the open world aspect is pointless, and literally nobody wants to do the cross-country thing. Unfortunately Nintendo has a tradition of forcing you to enjoy things the way they want or not at all, because they're always right and we're always wrong.

So would it be a good idea to get MK8D now? Kinda got the itch to play MK.
Last one was on the Wii WAY back when.
Just dont want to hop in and have it be dead in a couple of months
Im planning on getting a Switch 2 closer to Duskbloods Release, so im not in a rush to grab one since Im hoping for a revision soon-ish

Nintendo will obviously milk World with DLC for years to come, it's only a matter of whether they back down with their retarded design choices by making QoL patches.

Im moreso talking about the fear of MK8D potentially dying soon, and basically hopping into a sinking ship if I buy it now.
But yeah, fully expecting World to last for the whole generation

Did you even have a chance to play the regular level within those few hours? If you only played online and through single player, you probably would not have played enough to be able to make a valid comparison. This isn't intended to be an attack on you, but more just pointing out that Nintendo made it where you have to go out of your way to actually play the levels. I had no appreciation for the courses until I finished the single player and then went back to actually see what they are like in time trial. However, I would say they are easily just as good as MK8. The new mechanics are really fun and there are a lot of neat tricks to learn compared to previous Mario Kart courses.

Here's the 7D chess: they have DLC packs lined up that are literally just intermission tracks because they thought they'd be a huge hit. They spent money developing them so they can't just call it quits now because their planned roadmap of content depends on the concept. Screenshot this I know what I'm talking about.

I wonder how anyone can believe that intermissions were gonna be a hit. Surely they have playtesters. I've literally fallen asleep playing intermission tracks.

For me, it's almost impossible to find any matches in Splat2, because it seems to matchmake only with local players. That means if it's night in my continent, only way to be able to find players is to run some VPN set to Japan as country, and then connect that internet with my Switch, now thinking I'm in japan I can do pvp or salmon run with japanese people. Splat 3 doesn't have this problem, it could be 2am or 6am in the night, I have maximum 90seconds of queue time everytime of the day.

I love how now that intermissions are a thing suddenly everyone defending them thinks the last 40 years of 3 lap tracks in Mario Kart were somehow alienating to casuals. As if Mario Kart didn't become a global phenomenon and household name enjoyed by casuals everywhere already.

Nintendo isn't like Valve, who makes sweeping changes to their games mid-development because of playtesters acting retarded. I assume internal testing is just quality control, and anyone saying "this gameplay mechanic is a bad idea" is immediately shot down.
