It doesn't have a bad story if you're done gooning about your stupid fucking Timeline. The ending is epic and the most "kino" Zelda has felt since Ocarina of Time.

It's not. You don't even need to agree with the timeline. TotK doesn't even agree with Breath of the Wild. For example the reason given for why the Divine Beasts and the Guardians and the Shrines disappearing is

>their job was complete

How? Ganondorf isn't dead. The Calamity itself is known to be a cycle. Ganondorf's return happened faster in Wild Hyrule's lifetime than the 10,000 refractionary period from last time. So what the hell does it mean that their jobs were done?

I reckon Age of Calamity is canon and actually undoes the events of BOTW.

I just think the Demon Dragon's nuclear explosion is neat.

They already mentioned it in an interview like a month after release.

>โ€œThey disappeared after the Calamity was defeated (sealed). All of the people of Hyrule also witnessed this, but there is no one who knows the mechanism or reason why they disappeared, and it is considered a mystery. It is believed that since the Calamity disappeared, they also disappeared as their role had been fulfilled.

>It is, anyway, commonplace for mysterious events and strange phenomena to occur in Hyrule. Thus, people have simply assumed the reason behind the disappearance to likely be related to ancient Sheikah technology and it seems there is no one who has tried to explore the matter further. The main civilizations in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are completely different, so we thought about the game based on concepts that match each of these civilizations.โ€

That's the old interview answer. I had assumed they buried themselves underground or something, but they just disintegrated themselves, turning into dust? That seems really dumb especially since Ganondorf basically has the same effects as the Calamity.
