You missed the golden age of SS13, the game is completely taken over by trannies and furries. People get banned for calling someone a retard. You can't actually utilize half of those cool mechanics unless you get an antag roll and even then you'll probably get banned anyways by some tranny janny if you actually do something cool/funny.

TGstation is absolutely fucking terrible even compared to a few years ago. Everything I said about servers being taken over by tranny and furry moderators who ban people for saying retard applies word-for-word to what happened to TGstation over the past year or so. I'm not even going to go into all the retarded codebase changes because that compounded with the new moderation just makes it so much worse.

/vg/station is the only server worth playing on but it struggles to get players outside of evening US weekends and still has a problem with janny favoritism and player cliques.

You'll hear that the peak of SS13 has already passed. While many communities are uptight fags with "Zero tolerance for no no bad things" if you're able to hide your power level you'll witness great things.
I would say the most respected profession is Engineering. They are what keep the station running and habitable. If they can't do their job, everything stops. APCs shut down from lack of power, looters have taken the oxygen tanks and space suits.
