They had terraria's whole schematic to copy and go to new places with and they decided to do the most boring dogshit linear campaign experience instead, countless worlds to explore for no fucking reason at all because your objective doesn't give a fuck about any of them

the linear campaign is a red herring
the gameplay itself is shit because everything is too fast and too predictable, including your own movement and the guns feel like shit (and consist of 90% of the gameplay)

the thing people loved about terraria isn't the lore, the story, or the writing, it's all about the bosses and the time it takes to get to the next one
