Agreed. I fucking love the simulation aspect of it and seeing people go about their lives. Iโm worried for SoR 2 though, the demo didnt inspire confidence
>>715157810 I was just thinking that, but you don't actually create anything like they are adding on the second game. I am a little worried about the new game being too open world to the point where it becomes tedious.
>>715157908 I check in on the demo of SoR2 every couple of months to see what's going on. Seems like it has potential. I have never played the first game though, what are you not liking about 2?

>>715157978 I already play the first game similarly. I turn off all the special stages and just lean into the city crawls
>>715158447 I skip the levels where there's some strange event occuring, and I play the entire run with levels blended together. So each level is just a standard city, with bushes, rails, supercops, mobsters, flaming vents, lakes, all of the stuff you see from every level in each and every level.
>>715158157 I did when it was for coming out. The dev is a class act, heโs always so good at responding to Steam discussion threads. Although heโs a bit of a cuรงk for removing the slave master class
>>715158626 Oh, so no special events at the end of stages like the expanding slime or the killer robot. I think those are great because they shake up the gameplay just enough that it doesn't get stale.
>>715156707 (OP) This game never really clicked for me. I feel like I'm just doing objectives it's either fetch some item, or kill someone.. Onto the next stage. Repeat. Or am I missing something?
>>715158626 But the special events are fun I enjoy how the game expects you to still do your job while there are bombs dropping all over the place, the whole map is turning into a zombie apocalypse, you have a killer robot on your ass or the map becomes a warzone with you in the crossfire
>>715158905 same here. sad it's delayed but gleeful it's not been 'released' just to be early access for 3 years
haven't even tried the demo

>>715159087 My fun comes from being the decider in what event is going to happen. Like for instance there's an item called necronomicon, if I stumble across it during a run I have the choice to raise some dead, and they in turn will cause zombies to rise, and boom an outbreak that I caused.

>>715159045 >>715159350 You're just picking the most boring solutions instead of trying to experiment. Like killing your assasination target by planting a bomb on his door, knocking on said door and running away. Or leading an army of gorillas to attack a enemy base. Or trying to play as the alien which is weak but can mind control people. Or being a body snatcher. Or taking a giga growth pill to just stomp all over a objective. Or "provoking" an accident where your target gets gunned down by the police. Etc etc etc.

The game is boring as fuck. Each character has different ways to do the exact fucking same thing.
>>715159808 each character plays entirely different. earlier today I tried the doctor and it turns out it's a pacifist playthrough with tons of stealth and pitting enemies on one another. chased all around the map trying to duck out of eye sight and resume stealth.
>>715161338 You harvest resources, create clones for jobs, raid pirate vessels or be raided, fight off alien infestations on the teleporting space station you build.. research guns ect..
>>715162871 Best i got is a flamethrower.. its extremely good at clearing the doom fungus infestations.. you could use your harvester to "abduct" life forms to harvest DNA for clone research.. but if you already have their DNA they just explode.

>>715156707 (OP) >loved sor >sequel concept sounds good, your chaos will have actual impact, areas are non-linear, factions more dynamic >beta comes out >can't enjoy it Still impressed by what Matt's made, but it's on so many levels of scope creep that I doubt it'll turn out as great.
>>715159045 The game is all about experimenting Pick a wacky class like doctor or hacker and try to approach the quests in creative ways. The magic is all in system interactions. If you have no imagination i'm afraid it's on you

>>715156707 (OP) >with no flaws. I didn't like the combat, but I agree that it has a lot of other things going for it.
>>715159087 >finish the game and get a bunch of mutators like the one that skips the mayor letting you play until you die >add the full randomizer mixing everything from the five floors across every level >multiple chunk packs to add even more variety like warehouses full of refrigerators, sleazy bars, secret labs and military outposts >just murderhoboing your way across the game with an inventory full of stolen cheese burgers, drugs, guns and enough money to clone whatever you need For me it's dropping a fat stack of remote bombs around a corner and sending the killbot flying across the level. I usually turn off ooze and timed bomb events so I don't need to rush.

I got it recently, like that it's chaotic enough to not let you execute a cheesy plan that works in every run. Kinda weird that doc is better at stealth than a ninja
>>715165793 >when ninja stars, banana peels and actual rocks are tools worthy of carrying around The multipurpose nature of some of the items is pretty legit. Rocks are capable of doing all kinds of things like smashing toxic barrels, triggering buttons or cracking windows as a distraction. Making the AI eat shit because you tossed a banana peel at their feet never gets old.
