I can't tell you that yet, I haven't even booted it since the DLC dropped. But at least it adds half a dozen new biomes, a bunch of new animals, and you can even enhance animal brains so they can help out more dramatically. I bet mods are going to have to expand on that aspect though.

I use that mod that lets you reroll seeds. I find a spot with a large river, a road, and a mountain, and then refresh it until I find a map I like, with a small amount of land inside the mountain, protected by the river.

Drop pod raids are a very minor faction of threat value
Just like sappers, they are much less threat value from a normal raid
Two or three good melee pawns with good armor should deal with any drop raid, if you make some preparations like having corridors
Even easier if you have addons like psychic lance or powers

Performance, though do remember that big maps will take a long time to traverse for friendlies and enemies.

Other than CE, use the compressed raids mods, instead of sending an infinite amount of raiders, they'll start coming juiced up, with bionics, doomsday launchers, and at one point just flat stat increases, you can tweak it to your liking.

Anomaly isn't just the campaign, there's some great generic non-niche shit you will want for any colony. Mind-numb is godly, bioferrite is a great material, ghouls are OP as fuck, frenzy juggernaut, the new lances. summoning/kidnapping rituals. there's a load of great shit for the small cost of occasionally having longer term shit events.

There's a definitely some good things. The rituals are ridiculously OP though especially the one that let you de-age and cure injuries. I think Anomaly in general has the best and most interesting raids. But it doesn't really add any new fundamental features like the other DLCs if you play with the monolith off.

It's totally unbalanced, but I like the EZ Infestation mod for comfy mountain colonies. The base is totally invincible once you get your main rooms dug out, power on, a hydroponics room or two up, and some long trapped hallways built on the outside. Even long-term events like toxic fallout are no threat at all, just confine your colonists to the base and tank the mood debuff.

The new DLC at least makes it easier to travel around the map, but stuff like changing the planet for good would be nice. Like, you could create a crusade to take out all bandit camps. You could create peace and make a council of all the factions. You could take over the planet and rule it yourself.

I played the spaceship start, and it seems kinda meh. The space constraits make things more difficult, but in an annoying way. Landing for timber (to make chemfuel) and food (to make nutrient paste) is annoying if there's no object of interest in the area to do by the side as you wait for the engine to cool down. Because of the limited space, you can't really build a big team quick enough to enjoy landing on tribal villages and raiding them.

Overal I still think the most fun start is an eldrich cult, dont @ me with your bad anomaly takes. There's always stuff to do in that start.

I do use choke points, but they're not the blatant sort you often see. I make granite walls five tiles thick and then place turrets behind them to make attacking pawns path to any of two or three entrances six to eight tiles wide, then I just set up some sandbags and embrasures on the other side of it and defend it normally. If I'm feeling frisky I'll set up some minefields in parts of the map I want raiders to avoid.

Counterintuitively, a lot of the defenses in the game like turrets and mines aren't actually meant to be used to kill, but as area denial. Pawns will always favour any hole in your defenses over actively defended areas with the exception of conscripted pawns.

If you picked Randy you get the same amount of average attacks but with random distribution, meaning you can get absolutely dogpiled nonstop or stare at the screen for half a year with no raids.

It's the fact that it's a board entirely built around generals. The issue with generals is that anons get too familiar with each other and form cliques, and it just degrades from there. There's a couple decent threads where it stays on topic, but for the most part it attracts the terminally online and attention starved.

I'm not ignoring any intent, this is literally how the game's mechanics. It really does prefer to spawn infestations OUTSIDE of your mountain base, it is just that players go with a min-max attitude thinking that they can make a base sprawl through the whole mountain and leave nothing untouched.
As long as you have a natural cave or a strip mine the infenstations WILL spawn there 90% of the time.
I did get an infestation inside the base eventually and it was very easy to handle with the chokepoint design of my open corridors. It was just took a longer time than usual to recover from it by cleaning the mess.
