Now that the dust has settled, was Tears Of The Kingdom worth the wait?

I liked totk but it gave me the strangest feeling I've ever had playing a zelda game in my life. It felt just like a rom hack of botw more than anything. A very involved and profession rom hack but still a rom hack at the end of the day

absolutely not. didn't even bother finishing more than a single dungeon. why would they leave the plot for last? the game is beyond retarded, we make fun of episode 9 for bringing palpatine out of nowhere but this game does the same but worse and doesn't get shat on enough. suddenly goats are behind the birth of Hyrule despite us knowing that isn't the case from SS, then there's a new rauru but he's not human, then everyone is retarded and let's Ganondorf win just to advance the stupid plot. this literally is the worst Zelda yet

I believe games should be judged based solely on their gameplay and the story judged seperately. If a game has absolutely no story outfit a flimsy pretext for why you're doing what you're doing that is perfect fine with me

Why? Story providing context for your actions makes it greater than the sum of its parts. An example of this would be something like baldur's gate 3, or any strategy game. Barbarians marching on Rome invokes greater emotions than Abstract Enemy Formation 1 marching on Abstract Friendly Fortification 5

Okay, but that's not what is happening in tears of the kingdom. the story is there, with custcenes and all that, and your actions are directly involved with the story, but it's just boring and uninspired, probably written over the course of a day or two.

it really depends on the game for me but if a game has a bad story but fun gameplay I'll still love a particular video game. If a had no story and was just a bunch of levels strung together (kind of like a platformer) I'll enjoy it regardless

An opposite example of a bad game with a good story, god of war 2016, I thought the story was fairly well written but I didn't give a shit about it because I wasn't having fun. A good story in a video game isn't relevant to me
