Once you experience the silky inky blacks of OLED you can't go back

exactly why I'll never raise my standards by buying one
black on my shitty IPS monitor is good enough for me and I don't care to have that ruined

IPS is a crime. We could have had more refined plasma displays now or SED.

are OLED better?
of course they are, but lets not pretend these "comparisons" are made by anyone who actually understands monitors, cause THIS, games looking like the left on older displays is exactly why older games had built in brightness and gamma adjustment, cause simply using those you could get the blacks to be as deep as they needed to be, pic related

LCD screens can't produce perfect blacks, so the only people that can see the difference in this image are people who already own and OLED.

IPS is abhorrent. Get a VA panel at least.

on top of this, you can clearly see the pic was clearly taken from a slightly lower angl(the ammo and health numbers are a washed out red when they're supposed to be bright deep red), and that alone makes the whole thing look worse than it actually looks when using these monitors

so again, OLEDs are obviously better, but these comparisons are dishonest and deliberately(or due to ignorance) avoid using the built in features made exactly to avoid this issue.

the only thing i edited was exactly what i described, adjusted the gamma, which is a setting in the game itself

The brightness (there's no gamma setting in Quake, zoomer) is literally at 0 in these pics. How much is Nintendo paying you? Please tell me you're not doing it for free.

Wtf is the correlation with stockholm syndrome there? You're fiercely loyal to one screen type? But how is that causing you to dislike oled in specific? How are you even avoiding them, do you come into contact with different screens on a regular basis?

Depends on the OLED. White backlit OLEDs still have perfect whites, quantum dot OLEDs have less intense whites due to not actually having any white lights.

I got an oled the other day and its amazing. Its the whole thing. 4k and hdr.

When a game uses both, the contrast and brightness is incredible. I was playing death stranding and i was out at night and it looked all the little lights on my suit and in the distance were so vibrant. Then turning the camera up and looking at the moon was like looking into a flashlight.
And i was playing doom the dark ages and it was raining and when lighting struck it lit up the whole room.

God its cool.

Because it's not possible to actually compare them with an image, it's fake. You literally can't show the difference without looking at an LCD and OLED screen beside each other irl.

Cant you guys just play a youtube video , lilke Cowboy Bebop OP or some shit like that, in your phone (OLED) and PC's monitor (IPS) and compare one another?
OLEDs have been on consumer's side since at least 15 years, why are these threads still happening you fucking mouthbreathing retards.

Because poors still haven't caught up with the times and don't want to accept that, in fact, dropping $4k on a TV will, in fact, give you a better image.

>it's set to 0
that's my exact point you fucking retard, you don't set it to 0, you adjust it according to the image you see on your monitor, the setting is there exactly cause not all monitors are the same, so not all monitors need the same setting
>The brightness (there's no gamma setting in Quake, zoomer)
when was Quake 2 released? 1997
what monitors it ran on? CRTs
what does the brightness control in games do on a CRT which already has it's own brightness and contrasts settings? ADJUSTS THE GAMMA
you would know this if you actually played Quake 2 and other games back then, you are the zoomer thinking you can make a fair comparison of an any sort of non-CRT monitor vs OLED using an old game literally developed on a CRT

also this
even people who actually do fair comparisons with all the data and proper testing will always tell you that images and videos don't really give a proper image of how it looks in real life, there was even one youtube channel dedicated to monitor comparisons who explained how they edited parts of the video to recreate what they could see irl cause the raw footage made things look way worse than they look irl

>Wtf is the correlation with stockholm syndrome there?

In other words I've been "held hostage" by LCDs long enough that I find them more familiar and comforting enough that I think they look better.
