It's sad to think that if this Ape Escape was made by Nintendo, they would have kept the franchise alive to this day. Sony really doesn't know how to manage their exclusives, that sucks.

If Nintendo had made Ape Escape it would be boring and gay.

Nintendo could never make Ape Escape because it's more art and toy than product

Nintendo only cares about 10 of their IPs at most. At best it would turn into another Smash-relegated IP like Starfox.

Incorrect, but this is a typical opinion of protesting non-players.

custom robo says hi
sony deserves a kick in the dick but japan studio is also at fault for being a clusterfuck of a studio.
However that chaos is also what made ape escape turn out the way it did. (Along with most of the staff who made 1 leaving the industry after release but thats a different discussion)

>kept alive
you mean they would have put spike in smash bros and called it a day while continuing to make mario #751 where he goes to the doctor to get his asshole examined

We're pretending Nintendo doesn't neglect several franchises for decades despite consant fan demand solely on the grounds of them not being Mario or Zelda? I'm surprised DK is even getting another chance after over 10 years of nothing. Just because one company is shit doesn't mean the other shit company is a saint.

Absolutely correct. Smash Bros is the original IP graveyard, although I think it has an even more negative impact on gaming than just being a museum of neglected games. Nobody is guilt free of this (pic related) but perhaps the audience too has delusions about games as franchises, a set up pretense established through marketing. There was a time where every console would be met with a round of "can't wait for the next sonic, metroid, streets of rage, crash bandicoot." As if they're predetermined the moment a new box came around. Every generation is met with this but at the same time the original creators of many series' would want to do something entirely new. Sometimes games a one-off, and that's all there is. Sometimes a story is complete - maybe Mass Effect Andromeda would have been a good excuse for a new sci-fi universe.
