How is this shit considered one of the best Sonic games in years? I know the bar is low but the sole redeeming quality this game has is running around an open world at top speed, assuming you don't bump into any of garbage the game has scattered everywhere.

It is one of the best Sonic games in years, but that doesn't say much considering how few Sonic games have come out recently. What's more baffling is how many people actually think this game is good. Movement (the one thing you should get right in an open world Sonic game) just feels like shit, the combat has the depth of a puddle and the open world challenges are uninspired and consist entirely of generic assets haphazardly slapped together with blocks floating in mid-air. The whole thing just feels like a proof of concept tech demo. Frontiers is a testament to how low the Sonic fandom's standards really are.

The open world is almost always either flat expanses or covered in automatic movement items, especially on the last island. As well, the game takes any bump in the terrain as Sonic tricking and launches you into the air.
