How come there are barely any Americana themed rpgs out there?
The one and only ubiquitously known one is fucking Earthbound.
And it's made by the Japanese.

Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening is set in America too. It has pretty cringeworthy comic book type dialogue, but I appreciate the cool setting and the fairly unique set up of a responsible adult helping a kid in more ways than just physically saving them.

Hmm I guess that counts.
I was thinking about an older setting.
Moder day just doesn't feel the same, contemporary America isn't really all that different from the rest of contemporary world.

I wish there was some 1600-1900 Americana kind of RPG.
Where you can have like a Ben Franklin NPC to give you quests, you can fight Billy the kid and Calamity Jane as boss fights.
Raid some shipts during the Boston Tea Party.
Go to the Salem witch trials and have some ace attorney style intermission.
Go on a pirate adventure.
Meet a wendigo in the woods.
Recruit a cutie Tiger Lily native girl bard type party member so she can do buffing dances and run from some injuns or go with them on an acid trip and hunt some coyotees for pelts.
Retrieve a stolen declaration of independence.
Run into some lovecraftian sidequest in some weird hick town off the map where the locals are trying to summon an ancient god.

That kinda shit.
I feel like that would go hard.

I just think it would be a cool setting for this kind of thing.
And it would add some new flavor to the stale sword and board, magic, elves, demon king shtick that's so tiring to slog through because it's all the same exact shit every time.
But I guess that's just me, people still play those games even if they played 1000 of them with the exact same setting before.
