>>715263747pre-ordered the deluxe edition after playing DoK and going back to play h1,h2 and cata/emerg.
h3 fails so hard and while i don't think any of the games that came before it were perfect it's easily the weakest on in terms of gameplay and story.
and then to top it off all the post launch content was geared for the 3 player coop mode which sucks to grind alone and good luck finding people looking to play it with at this point since there's 0 reason to continue to do so now that everything was pushed out in one last final patch and it was fucking nothing in terms of content.
this game needed another year or two in the oven to flesh out the missions, some of them are over just as they seem to be getting started and it's like 13 missions, the same as DOK where one is basically a tutorial for moving units around and a few almost play themselves with how simple they are
DoK at least got the battles and missions mostly right with progressively more intense and interesting stuff going on while h3 flounders a lot of it's setups like the asteroid mission where you gotta navigate the fleet is legit a point a to b and there's 0 challenge to it or anything unexpected. nothing compared to the nebula mission from homeworld or even the friggin tornado stuff in DoK where you had to scrap parts and defend from attacks while the valley was getting hit by storms. idk what really went on with the dev team, i read about rewrites and saw the images of some pink haired employee who supposedly influenced the game in the last year or so but whatever happened there it was a bullet to the head of homeworld when the devs were essentially given the keys to the kingdom of a classic RTS series
what really sucks is that i met mattpat at a small family gathering and was talking to him about games, stuff we were looking forward to, and i brought up H3 as something i didn't want to get too hyped about due to all the broken launches of games in the past years but i was hopeful :(
