I remember when I was younger I tried playing Advance Wars Dual Strike, I gave up when I got to the point where I was following a literal step by step walkthrough and having to save/load every turn and then restart when a fight didn't go my way

For me it's just hard to keep track of all the shit going on in a RTS game after the first few minutes.
I think RTS is less about intelligence and more about constantly multitasking.

I think its either the few years of battlerite I played when it was still alive has tainted my brain in some way, or perhaps I am simply too high IQ to even approach a genre like mobas, but whenever I try to play one casually I feel like I'm playing a different game to everyone else. Like just getting in range of an enemy to use an ability is a serious problem or just moving around the map. Of course I never bothered to take them seriously but its always slightly annoyed me that it never did click without me knowing why.
