Racing game made by Jap that love street racing in the Japanese Highway. Its on the arcadey side and not a sim racer. The series mostly use japanese cars for their rosters. You race against other street racers in the highway. Racing involves outrunning your opponent or breaking their "spirit" aka their health bar on the top. Ramming and blocking your opponent is a viable option here. If you want to try out the series but cannot afford to play 2025, emulate Tokyo Xtreme Racer 0 or 3.

Rivals
The positions of your car and rival's cars at the start of a battle have been revised.
If you initiate a battle on the course, you will start the battle behind the rival's car.
If a rival initiates a battle on the course, the battle will start in front of the rival car.
If you challenge a battle at PA, the battle will start in line.

The center of gravity of vehicles with horizontally-opposed engines has been lowered slightly.

Adjusted the rivals to make it harder for them to collide with other vehicles in corners.

Adjusted the battle start positions of Tatsumi PA and Daikoku PA to be parallel.

Battle BGM start timing has become selectable.
Force feedback strength can now be increased up to 5 times.

I recall people saying how easy the game is throughout, but I'm at a relatively early point, and there are several rivals that I flatout cannot beat in a race. They top out faster, they get ahead, and I just can't do anything about it. I'm not sure what I can or should modify to help break even. I don't know if it makes much of a difference, but I'm on the original version of the game.

I have a Subaru BRZ and a '15 Mazda Miata that I started with. At the Rebirth of the Legend objective. If the solution is just "git gud", then I'll keep trying, but I feel that I'm missing something.

I see they added achievements, are they retro active? I kind of want to start from scratch when the game comes out of EA, and that includes cheevos.

Read their descriptions, some of them can be beaten by challenging them on sections of the highway that dont allow for their technique, aka Shuwa Shuwa Strong can be beaten by challenging on the twisty part of C1.

Change your tyre compound if you haven't done it yet. Medium is borderline useless because you either want soft for best performance or hard for very long stints on the road. Also as anon said, gear ratios. A good thumb rule for beginners is to set it up so that when you shift up, you end up with the max torque RPM.

I have a 2080ti and I had to jiggle with the settings, trying different resolutions on my 1440p monitor. In the end I basically played with everything set to medium

Yeah I picked a second at an auction as a spare before I tried boosting it in case I broke something, it's been great though. Only issue is I'm pretty sure the clutch has never been changed in ~260,000kms and with the extra grip from 19x8.5 inch wheels that I thought would look cool I sometimes end up pushing more torque than the clutch can keep up with and it slips out of gear.
Got a stage 1 exedy clutch upgrade sitting here, waiting on a lightweight flywheel before changing it.

Having actually played the update for a few hours now, oil and water temps don't really matter in races but do impact speedtraps when you can't just be blasting the whole highway, still pretty fun to sit in sixth to let the engine cool while keeping speed.

I’ll be damned before believing the successor to the RX-7, let alone a character that has been a low-to-mid-level boss/wanderer, would be the final boss you face, in this game. It’s more believable to see the RX-8 to be a challenging car you’d face in the first half of the game, due to it being an RE car.
Despite it being an older car using the same 1.3 liter rotary engine, the FD RX-7 should continue to be used by higher-leveled rivals, late in the game. Perhaps things will be different in this game, but I’m hoping the RX-8 won’t continue to be overused during the possible second half of the game, on the official release. Perhaps it will turn out that Cinderella After Midnight a higher-leveled boss, compared to previous games, and there will be only one or two faster bosses after her – either that or she’s the new Speed King, which would be disappointing, as that would imply she’s the second-to-last-boss in the game and we have indeed been playing through most of the campaign since day 1 of Early Access.

TL;DR: I’m doubling down on the possibility that Cinderella After Midnight, with her Mazda RX-8 – the nerfed successor to the RX-7 imo – isn’t anywhere near close to being the final boss and I’ll be disappointed if we have been playing through most of the campaign since day 1.

the Renesis in the Rx8 has more headroom for power than the 13B in the FD Rx7. it's just the Rx8 didn't have a turbo from the factory so it takes more work to get there. There are absolutely 500+ bhp turbo Rx8s out there. They also built a lot more Rx8s than FDs. even though the Rx8 is physically larger they weigh practically the same depending on equipment.
late game 'tuner' cars should be stuff like R35s, RC Fs, LFAs, and the new NSX.
