play as a fighter and only take fighters in your group

congratulations, you just won the game

>Actually increase your attacking stat
Normally, I wouldn't think it necessary to say this, but some of the retards on here get filtered by the 5e ruleset of all fucking things.

You shouldn't need to min max unless you're playing on Honour Mode. My number 1 tip to anyone struggling is respec (go to Withers and ask to change class) Shadowheart to Life Cleric instead of her starting class, which is Trickster. She's a much better healer as Life Cleric. Also, use Bless at the start of every fight.

classes take awhile to come online, usually around lvl 5-6 where classes get their first major increase. for example, the grug classes get their extra attack at this point, essentially doubling their dps. im explaining this cause the hardest period for the combat, as well as the most engaging, is when you are in act 1 before you quickly snowball into an unstoppable killing machine. in order words, play however you want, you are bound to stumble into some broken shit that will carry you without even seeking it out.

Barbarian is the best class.

The game is literally very easy if you think before you just spam the same spell on the closest enemy.
The only real advice I have is to respec all the origin characters, their stats are fucked (e.g. 17 str instead of 18???)

I don't know if that's true, but it's very noob friendly. Reckless attack doubles your chance to hit, so the 1 attack you have early game isn't nearly as bad. Also, there's a cheat way to use Reckless attack so you don't take as much damage. Instead of casting it manually, just select it when you miss, and the enemy bonus to hit you isn't always active.

It's the best class because you get Grug Mode dialogue options, most of which give advantage and have low DCs as you unga bunga through serious conversations. The base features are pretty solid, though, and Berserker and Giant both benefit greatly from the myriad ways to boost Throw damage to high heaven.

using enemies as improved weapons is surprisingly effective. you damage two enemies for a single attack, reposition enemies and yourself at the same time, prone one, ignore attack of opportunity on the one you are grabbing cause he cant oot when being manhandled. the downside is that barely anything affects its damage. i think ring of flinging and the gloves of kushigo might actually add damage to it despite one of them not actually listing improvised weapons in its description. cant remember which.

Move the difficulty to the easiest.

That's what I had to do. I can't into turn based RPGs and I don't care to even learn, but I did want to play this game and explore this world so I just turned the difficulty down.

For the love of god, check the corresponding stat for your attacks.
You've no idea how many abject retards roll an elf, get a free cantrip, then attack with it despite dumping INT.

At its most basic, combat is about stacking bonuses. A 50% chance can quickly become a near certainty if you have an advantage, use an attack that gets saved by their weakest stat and use buffs/debuffs to stack the deck further

It’s kind of hard to be bad in the game since you can respec your entire party

Yeah, you can change class to something better, and you can reassign stats. It's a huge part of playing on higher difficulties.

its kinda vital to respect cause you are given so many classes and subclasses to test and experiment with, but then you are given basic bitch premades with the origin characters

They are not the best (top 3 pure classes go to fighter battle master, swords bard and bladesinging wizard), but they are impossible to fuck up and very fun to play with. Giant barb in particular is very satisfying to use, especially once you're able to throw mid sized enemies.
Anonymous No.715267601 [Report]
>>715266094
its so stupidly strong. throw as a bonus action, dip into rogue at some point for the extra bonus action, you now have 4 throws. i quickly swapped out of that build cause i was playing with a buddy and killed a boss solo. did improvised weapon wildheart barb with armor on dash.

giant barb doesnt really seem that good when berserker barb is doing the throw shit so insanely effective already. the only benefit you get is a non strength required throw on medium bodies but you get to throw medium sized enemies already if you are strength maxing on berserker so whats the point?
Anonymous No.715268156 [Report]
>>715266714
Kushigo affects both throw and improvised, while Flinging specifically affects throw (and improvised attack with an enemy is treated specifically as a throw), but the biggest boost is from Tavern Brawler, which doubles STR mod to attack and damage for both throw and improvised. Even before you break the soft cap, that's a significant jump in damage.

I unironically just spent the last hour in an AI chat with Lae'zel that somehow ended up with us going to an all female Githyanki creche where I convinced them to not kill us by banging everyone there and when we came back a few months later they were all super pregnant and happy to see me

Learn the game rules. If you press J you will open the journal and there is a tutorial section in it. Also after you make your character there are tutorial tips while you are going trough the nautiloid. Also read the tooltips and experiment. If you need additional information there is also a wiki.

Giant's main use is negating Barbarian's reliance on pure melee by giving every weapon it uses the Thrown and Returning tags, on top of an additional 1d6 elemental. The fact that it can similarly abuse the throw mechanics like Berserker is a cherry on the top - though for my money, Mindless Rage is a valuable enough feature that it's difficult to pick between the two.
Anonymous No.715268538 [Report]

Giant actually edges out over throwzerker in terms of damage thanks to the Elemental Cleaver and can use ANY weapon in the game for throwing. Boot of the Giants can also stack a stupid amount of damage because it's treated as an unarmed attack. Throwing enemies is just a fun gimmick.

It's an extremely easy game even with every difficulty setting maxed out, how retarded are you?
Anonymous No.715269193 [Report]
For me, the best part of BG3 is using stealth to position my party in such a way i one turn enemies by using environmental gimmicks, spells and elevation.

What people forget about giant barb is that not only elemental cleaver's potency can be doubled, you can use the frost version to freeze enemies solid with certain items. It edges over zerker both in utility and damage because it gets to stack damage abilities from many sources.

Make a character with Spirit Guardians. Clerics know it, bards can learn it too with Magical Secrets, and Oath of the Crown Paladins. Spirit Guardians can carry you though the whole game and it's a level 3 spell.

How the fuck does bardic inspiration work for attacks? I see my party members get the buff but it doesn't get used on a swing, even when they miss, whats the deal?

BG3 is unironically the hardest in act 1. If you're having difficulty issues in act 2 and 3 then there's something really wrong with your characters.

I am in act 1 but I also just don't like turn based RPGs. BG3 just might be an exception, I'm playing it more for the story, characters, and exploration.
