I really enjoy games with the kind of vacant public or utility spaces that are normally inaccessible: lobbies, stores, offices, maintenance rooms, supply sheds, rooftop areas, employee lounges, and other typically off-limits or secured areas.
Places that you normally only pass by and aren’t allowed do anything there as they are monitored, or you don't have access to them because you don't work there. But now you have them all to yourself and can explore them in solitude. It's very comfy. Often, these areas are also safe zones where nothing attacks you, so you can plan your route and check your inventory in peace.

I'm not talking dystopian/post-apocalyptic, that's more of a different genre, but specifically vacated, like due to an epidemic or a rapture where everything is largely intact and working, equipment buzzing, but void of people.

I used to work at a store in the mall and when I closed, I got to walk through the mall when it was totally empty. I also go to see the access way and maintenance tunnels that run through and under the mall.

It was a great place to keep my victims.
