You do reilize back in the day when FFVII was a thing cartridges had like 64 megabytes at best like 10% of Single cd.
Even if you remove all the Cut-scenes FFVII was over 200 MB just for disc one alone.
Even if by some miracle they compressed the game even further and made all the Cut-scenes static images whit text like reading a comic it would still require like 4-5 cartridges for the one game.

FF has been dead for years. Well over a decade. Super fans on Internet forums kept acting like it was still 1999 and the series was flying high into the mainstream public conscious but meanwhile in reality nobody was buying these games. Part of that is because they’re not good but the other part is that the popularity declined in the mid 2000s. It’s essentially a niche series for weebs even though it’s not even that weeb. But it did have a moment of cultural relevance and mainstream success in the late 90s and very early 2000s.

FF7’s non-cutscene data is 244 megabytes repeated across all 3 discs. The rest is the cutscenes. Most of the data is uncompressed backgrounds. At this point wouldn't it make sense just to cancel Remake part 3? Each one of these installments gets its userbase cut in half. I think it'd be more profitable at this point just to make an HD remastered version of the original FFVII with redone art assets and voice acting, but the gameplay is exactly the same. Maybe they could do 3D playfields instead of 2D but it should be ostensibly the same game as the original.

It's really ironic because the story of Final Fantasy VII is about loss and learning how to move forward when there's a hole in your heart. I think there's a significant number of fans in the FF fandom who were never able to accept that characters die, maybe because the concept of mortality makes them upset and they just want the jingling keys.
