Why are "10/10" soundtracks meaningless these days?

I've played so many new games that I was told have 10/10 soundtracks and not one was above 7/10, people seemingly give out 10/10 soundtrack scores to any game they remotely liked

Honestly you will get better music suggestions from a robot vs a person. Maybe better isn't the correct word. I mean an algorithm has a much better chance at suggesting music to you you will enjoy compared to the chances of a human suggesting music to you that you will enjoy.

You know what that's retarded. An algorithm isn't automatically better at suggesting until it has heard what you like for a bit. That same thing applies to a person. They won't be able to suggest things good until they too have heard what you like for a bit. Forget it I can't think apparently.

>if the OST wasn't that good
They're actually mid
>same with FFXIV
XIV has some really good tracks but they're interspersed with just a ton of forgettable garbage so it can't earn a 10/10

Game journalists and their rating systems are entirely meaningless these days.

The only actual 10/10 soundtracks I can think of are Nier Gestalt, Expedition 33 and Drakengard 1. Maybe Hotline Miami.

Yes.
I look up entire, no commentary playthroughs of games, flip to various points in the game, and determine if I like it based off of that alone. I don't listen to anyone's opinions.

Yes.
My criteria for a 10/10 OST:
>I fucking love it
I give absolutely zero fucks about whether other people like the same music as I do.

>why do other people not share my opinion
I think 99.999% of games don't have a 10/10 soundtrack on the basis that most soundtracks aren't good enough that you would listen to them seperately from playing the game. Aside from rhythm games, the bar for what is considered "good" music is much lower for video game tracks
