I only tried the first game of the reboots and despite forcing myself to finish it, it left me utterly disgusted by what they have done to my boy.
Going from rotating the analog sticks to plop out gay ass gods' eyes out and having minigames to bang hot wenches is such a stark contrast with cuck of war I got whiplashed.

Kratos isn’t a character in these. He’s just a symbol of mediocrity and the “message”. He’s meant to be interesting to normalfags that don’t play games and midwits that think generic “redemption” stories are good. You know what that’s not even it. It’s not even a redemption story, it wears the mask of one. Kratos doesn’t really change fundamentally. He just goes from being mad to sad and is doing what everyone else wants with little to no autonomy instead of being hyper selfish and focused on his own wants. It’s an extreme over correction and all it does is enter another bad extreme where his character is just some husk going around and operating as what is effectively the muscle for every moron that will give him a command and validation. It’s a very sad existence and speaks to the mindset of the devs.

I could ignore the butchered story and characterization if they didn't change the series mechanically from very distinct slashers to an action RPG like every other game in existence. Numbers and menuing=depth is a fucking cancer. I'm sure the greatly slowed pace of travel and combat was also to match the pace of the narrative as well

Conquest in the Amazon Invincible is showing early warning signs of this and I really hope they don't go this direction. It was shit for Kratos, a fairly similar character, and it would be shit there too >>715294103
