Independent of AMD doing anything, people were sick of Intel's stagnation and several gens in a row of socket changes for barely any improvements. They haven't really had such an opportunity for an upheaval against Nvidia. They'll need a couple more 5000-tier launches in a row just to get people adequately pissed, and then they'll need some Jim Keller-tier engineering to deliver a plainly superior product on top of that.
