Like, Nintendogs was fine as a little handheld game because most players were impressed enough by the "realism" but still had tempered expectations about how the pets weren't as smart as real animals. But if you make a full console pet simulator, there are far greater expectations for what the pet should be able to do. Nintendo isn't really the "realistic simulation" type of company.
