>>715308085For the same reason many other websites repeated the claim that Pokemon saves are "unsafe" being transferred to a Switch 2. All of them erroneously suggested Pokemon Home as replacement to doing a transfer. The original was a Reddit user (yeah, surprise, Reddit) said he lost a thousand hour of saves because his Pokemon didn't transfer from Switch 1 to Switch 2. The user then deleted his post, then he deleted his account. IGN still ran the story about Pokemon saves being deleted. This type of journalism, if you could call it that, is so sloppy its basically using Reddit to fish for posts (or they could be making the post themselves) then making an article with ChatGPT.
Here's the wall of shame

Someone on Reddit makes a dogshit claim in a post. It's either debunked or immediately deleted, but our loveable gaming media gets it and they repeat it. Amplify it. And in this case, the alternative isn't even an alternative. Transferring from Switch 1 to Switch 2 is the best solution, period. Locally or through the cloud, doesn't matter which you pick but Pokemon and Animal Crossing will transfer over. Even the bare minimum of work isn't required anymore. This still is still making rounds on Twitter and TikTok because third world, zoomers, ADHD, autism, and falling literacy/critical thinking skills. Modern internet.
