Yeah, it's jarring. It sucks, I love the brands, but it just seems like SNK's properties are being worked on people who wish they were doing something else. People said all the way back in 2000 Capcom should buy SNK, I dismissed them back then, but after seeing how SF6 handles their characters and how SNK's own games look now, I kind of agree. Put them in the hands of people who are still passionate about them, because SNK hasn't been since they left sprites. Nonetheless I still hold out for a KoF that goes ball to the wall on production...

it is a sad state, but this is the company that the marks claim is full of "sovl", "unlike the slop that is capsoy" or whatever
saying that a company like this, a company full of dispassionate employees, is full of sovl, it's like a comment that's just being sarcastic without even knowing it

capcom, for better or worse, has employees who are more passionate about snk's props than most of snk's employees are, and they don't even work there
you don't have to like what capcom puts out, but it doesn't take away how several capcom employees feel about classic snk works

it's easy for me to say that if i ran snk, there'd be a lot of firings and requesting budget to hire better talent in their respective areas, cutting the fat to wear a hat, and basically doge'ing the place up, but even me saying all that is still not far removed from the best solution to fix snk, as at this point, that's the core of everything wrong with snk, they can't get their shit together and most of them seem to not want to

They weren't really bailed out there, the president of SNK and the president of Playmore were one and the same; he basically bailed himself out with his own pachinko money.

My approach would've been different. I respect them retaining talent through financial troubles. I'd just put them on what they actually seemed like they wanted to make: keep it sprite based, but only on Neogeo level of production and with recycled assets, so that they could be sold for less and more regularly, ideally annual again.

one of my suggestions is for snk to work and operate small, cut down on the staff and make smaller budget titles, sort of like that
but also the idea was similar to what arcsys did, only i actually said it before arcsys did their reveals of indie level games, and the purpose was similar as well, to get their underexperienced, undertalented staff some more experience and training so they can be primed for bigger games, and not just throw them into the ocean infested with sharks while they're wearing fresh bloodied meat and expect them to learn how to swim to safety
