The healing per turn is percentage based and the scales are one of the cheapest healing options when it comes to SP cost. Mermaids run out of SP from healing too quickly and if you're waiting until it's a critical moment to ask for healing then you're going to have times when the heal comes out too late. With the month you can just turn on her scales anytime there's an encounter and passive healing will usually outpace most incoming damage, and it refills all but red bar health with one cast. Also don't put your support monsters on attack mode or they will fuck off and die. Keep them on follow and set them to stand by when using skill request and they aren't standing next to you (they will prioritize moving closer to you otherwise).
Though if you're playing the remaster of 1 then mermaids are better healers again because of no SP cost.

They actually all have nipples and pussy modeled underneath their clothes in the first game, though it's hard to see in-game due to the toon shader. They lack nipple textures though, except for the spider and slimes for some reason.

If you max their like before defeating them it's about a 50/50 chance. You usually can't recruit them if you have a multi-hit mark on your weapon since the second or third hit will cancel the join request. Real problem is getting Bicorn since she wants you to have 4 different negative status effects in addition to the random chance. Best method I found is to lure one to a room with a crystal in it, gift her trash until her like is maxed, then paralyze her and start debuffing yourself with poison, weakness, and slow by bouncing some staff shots off the crystal.

I tried playing 2 but got filtered by the 100 floor dungoen. Mid way through the enemies become busted firing off huge room wide AOEs and it just so agitating failing at that point and starting over. The monsters's faces look a little too samey and the engrish gets old after a bit

The final dungeon isn't that bad, there is a bossfight at the end, but you only need to fight up to 50% then it becomes a kino playable cutscene where you will see two absolutely busted units dunking each other with nukes, you can participate in the fight if you have a spear and poke from a safe distance

It has a lot of new mechanics. Main character now has skills that can be cast from MP. You can command your party members to use a skill directly instead of waiting for the AI to feel like using them, though monster skills are now cast from the monster's SP. Monsters can learn new skills and they have their own equipment now. There's a crafting system and a little bit of an Animal Crossing-like town customization mechanic. There's also a lot more dungeons with several of them having special gimmicks like one where you get no gear but you can craft and place traps. Main stuff it's missing from the remaster are some quality of life improvements such as the quick menu, the item book, and being able to name items directly from the combat log. The remaster also added those glowing blue enhanced weapons which can spawn randomly. 2 is limited to just the purple alpha equipment for special gear.

Mayor's Trial is the 100 floor no items no friends dungeon in Tarte's house. It's not that bad once you get used to skin diving. You'll need to learn how to ID item effectively by observing their effects and start recognizing items based on what is left you haven't ID'd yet. You'll also want to hold onto some status effect fruit to synth onto a shield at the blue synth pots in the monster nests. Also just remember that the werewolves in the dungeon are free. I have six werewolves at home.

Oh yeah, one more thing. You can hold the dash button to move onto gold without picking it up automatically. Use "Feet" and you can put the gold in your normal inventory. Thrown gold does fixed damage at a rate of 10% the size of the stack, so 800 gold does 80 damage. This is very useful for early game alpha nukes.

dev probably had the idea of discounting the game for loyal fans so as to not come off as trying to milk them for a second-purchase of the same game, but instead of implementing it as an actual discount that checks your library, he just slashed the price and was happy with that.
If anything, the lower price point makes it easier to get people into the game at the beginning. Since a lot of recommendations after 2 came out makes it very mono-directional, it's hard to go back to 1 after you play 2 for any length of time so a lot of the time I'd just suggest they start with 2. Most of the reason to play 1 was for the plot, and to see how far the dev has improved in comparison, imo.

Play the remaster and if you like it then play 2. 2 has more content and game mechanics and is overall more challenging than 1 and the remaster. Though you might miss some of the quality of life improvements added in the remaster.
There's a guy who made a few nude mods on a Japanese chan, though it's a bit of mess to get working with how it's implemented. There's not a ton of work on this since the game is pretty obscure and has a niche fanbase.
