Of course you can't see a reason if you've never actually used a monitor above 1080p. Do yourself a favor and never try one, that way you can stay ignorant about how fucking blurry 1080p is

I have many 4k monitors and tv screens but I play all my games on a 22" inch 59hz monitor @ 1920x1080. My current GPU is a 4070ti super. I will never play games in 4k. No point. Only watch movies and videos in 4k.

Having a better screen is nice. People who wear glasses don't see in low resolution. They have slightly deformed eyes, so the light hitting their nerves needs to redirected by the glasses. You ghetto ape.

Absolutely, anon. Thereโ€™s a certain charm in simplicity. No coil whine, no babysitting frame rates, just smooth sailing through games and comfy internet browsing. Sometimes I think we peaked with 1080p60 and everything else is just chasing diminishing returns for the sake of spec sheets.

Because there is no reason. The greatest games of all time run at 640x480. It's basically cope by people who only play GTAV or Skyrim. 4k was meant for movies, to squeeze out a bit more out of 35mm film rescans. HDR, OLED, Atmos, all that garbage was just for bumping 4k movies.

>>715320351
>1080p is blurry
That's not how it works, retard. If you play 1080p content on 4k it needs to make up 3 pixels for every 1 original pixel, and then it probably does bilinear filtering. Also all new displays and tvs have faggot shit like DNR removal which kills the actual original image.

Back in the day Korean companies were doing exactly that. You were able to get quality PLS(Samsung IPS panel) 1440p monitors in the $200-$300 range back in 2013. This was a time where even TN panels of that res would cost $500+

>4k was meant for movies
Yeah, you're braindead. 4k is near worthless for video, the resolvable limit of 35mm film stock tops out about 1440p, and the actual quality of most 35mm film is far below that.

>If you play 1080p content on 4k
I play 1080p content in a 1080p window on my 4k monitor. When it comes to games, old stuff designed for sub 480p is played with CRT filters, while stuff that can handle a resolution bump is played maxed out.

Most screens are designed for one native resolution. If you use a lower resolution, the screen has to stretch the image to fit, which makes it look fuzzy.

But with dual native resolution monitors, the screen is built so that both resolutions fit perfectly into the screen's pixels. No stretching = no blurriness.

That's not how it works. What you're actually talking about is just built in integer scaling, which is nothing new, and most graphics cards support this by default.

Yeah, the only reason dual native is useful is if you have 2 separate source inputs, and one is locked to 1080p. For a PC monitor, you're just going to run at 4k all the time and do your integer scaling on the graphics card, because the monitor will just add latency for processing delay.

I don't know who keeps projecting OLEDs are going to get cheaper but it's stupid because every monitor technology gets cheaper at the same speed and then they add some new bullshit which costs twice as much. Quantum dots are pretty cool but you can reach 95% dcip coverage without that shit.
The sick sad true is its very very cheap to make tvs and monitor, but nobody wants to devalue themselves by pulling an RCA.
