Just finished a fairly completionist playthrough of SOTE where I was actively looking around to get all the goodies. Even using hefty fire pots liberally on the golems, I ended up with ~100 black pyreflies.

I remember one of them in the ruins killed the centaur crucible and I with it's giant flaming swirl and it was really funny. I barely got to fight the new crucible knight because of that fucker though.
