I fucking beat the game. I didn't manage to do this with Rise and World; every time I beat a few quests thinking I was done a shitton more would pop up. Then when I really think I'm done, I go online and find out there's some obscure way to unlock even more quests. By the time I was done that, they released giga-nigga monsters I couldn't beat on my own and my friends had long since been done with both games. Lesson learned, I'll wait until the expac comes out to play MH.

As always, the initial bad rep but largely warranted is hard to disappear, and players have left and it's hard to regain trust etc. but the truth is that the game now plays way better than a few months ago, and I'm using an old 3070, with reframework installed and FG, I'm at about 120+ FPS, High textures and some medium stuff at 2K resolution. My system is 4 years old, and I'm getting decent performances. No stutter at all. Don't troll and still use a 1080 or a 2070 and you'll be OK.
Also, don't complain about difficulty if you can't even get A rank on Mizutsune in the Arena, or easily Solo a Temp. Gore Magala 8 stars, Temp. Seregios and Lagiacrus, cuz these fights are absolutely fine difficulty-wise.
Yeah the story was crap, and most of HR was a tutorial, but we are now in the good stuff.

Every monster in the game has dogshit gear that isn't even worth humoring compared to even a mediocre artian weapon, and there's no real reason to run armor other than 4pc gore either. They fucked up their reward system insanely hard considering how much of the game is devoted to trying to make bad players feel good about themselves

The argument is that it's heading in the right direction. We're still in HR. And we're already facing good fights. If they go the way of Temp. monsters for MR, then we will be good, as it's harder to make wounds appear on those recent fights.

Now, I agree that the roster is a little weak, and the issues with the story and pacing backed off many players. But let's not forget that Monster Hunter has always been about going past that initial set up story and play the G rank expansion, that's where the games really shine. A lot of normalfags came, got caught in the bad rep mix shenanigans, and started to parrot what everyone said without critical thinking.

If they fuck up G rank, I'll be the first to say it. But right now, the game is gradually becoming better (and plays better, contrary to what many is saying). And it's in bad faith to say otherwise.

Monster Hunter players want to hunt Monsters not sit through eternal cutscenes and dialogue.

This is mostly the case in all MH games I've played though. You run a few Meta sets, a few pieces from 4-5 monsters and done. Why are you trying to say this is any different and only happens in Wilds? At least now, you can transmog anything which is cool, if you care about fashion that is.
In World, the Kulve weapons, were meta for a time, before Safi Jiva came out.
The issue with the Artian system is the stupid RNG behind, that is really unfair compared to the Kulve/Safi Jiva farm.

I assume you aren't the guy I was replying to because this isn't really in line with his comment about how they need to add monsters with good gear that's worth farming. In most games you can specialize and build armor sets specifically to enhance the specific weapon you're using (eg, guard and stamina skills on lance, artillery on gunlance, etc) so there are generally more compelling reasons to hunt something depending on your individual needs. In Wilds this doesn't matter because every skill you would possibly want is only available via weapon decos, so there's no real reason to craft any armor than the one with the most generic DPS skills.

There's a reason the nostalgiafags always try to make you play Freedom Unite. It's because it's basically MH generation 1 and 2 combined with a bit better controls for the attacks, although you can't control the camera on the PSP, you need a claw grip! Yeah...
Hopefully you can play this on emulators and work your way around the original controls. And even with that, the game's are not good now. They're too ancient. Too slow, less interesting to play. (Less attacks, less combos...)

I think, if you really really want to go back to the old MH formula, MH 4 U or GU are the only points of entry I'll recommend. And even then, with some caution.

It's too easy to play, too hard to run and just not fun. The auto running seikret ruins the exploration, the monsters keel over and die to a retard flailing and the armors do not matter.

All of that except the seikret were fixed for the latest two monsters released, so it's kind of bitter sweet to think of how awesome the game would have been had all monsters been as hard to kill as those two.

on the technical level it objectively looks better than world. The textures are better all around, there's less tiling, the lighting is more dynamic. but capcom is fucking retarded. Everything scales horribly to lower specs so stuff like rocky areas in windward plains look like fucking dogshit on the low detail/distant models you're stuck with there. The actual thing that gives players a terrible impression is that the game starts in the fallow weather in the desert area. Fallow is supposed to look dead so the colors are washed out, the desert area looks extra dead compared to the other zones so your first impression of the game is a big grey blob. capcom decided to make players see the game in the absolute worst circumstances in their first dozen hours of play. You need to hunt monsters to earn the right to see colors. actual insane shit.

There's also stuff like the in-game photo mode adds a filter that makes the game look worse. Another factor for running bad is probably related to stupid performance priorities. Perf in towns tanks because they felt the need to include a gorillion NPCs walking around gobbling up your CPU without the option to decrease density.
