Pixel density is what counts. 1080p monitors don't look great at their standard 24 inches, while 4k monitors start at 27 inches. Of course 1080p looks like shit stretched to 27, 32+ inches

DLSS makes most sense at 4k. I always put it on quality if DLAA isn't available. Quality looks better than native + anti-aliasing, and it's free performance.

enable integer scaling and it'll look the same as your old monitor. Plus your desktop no longer looks like shit.

4k today has a big asterisk which is that you're running 4K DLSS, not real 4K unless it's an older game. Which is fine because DLSS at 4K works fantastically (1080p DLSSd to 4K looks noticeably better than even 1440p DLAA) but you need to accept that you're not rendering true 4k.

make sure you're using integer scaling but it should default to it

The point is that the same shitty optimization and extreme demanding computation (while looking the same or worse) for these games is what all AAA games are gonna follow. Just look at how many dogshit releases we had this year and last year optimization-wise. It's only gonna get worse as newer nvidia technologies come out and Unreal starts pushing more shitty demanding technology that saves devs time.

I'm currently playing Battlefield 1 with 250 fps and it looks better than most AAA games that come out today.
