is this an actual metroidvaina or 2d souls like hollow slop?

Apparently sotn clone

Well, it kinda does. What would make it look better?

It's unbelievably boring and generic, literally soulless

the art is nice, but trying too hard to look good.. you can't tell the foreground from the background because it's all so uniformly detailed, ridiculous levels of noise

This and that Bela Lugosi game have both been incredible disappointments.

the first section is more of an adventure game with levels ala castlevania 2 or zelda 2 before turning into an SOTN-like with a large castle area.
this game has a level of soul most people can't even recognize. instead of leaning on retro-coded aesthetics, the game uses fully artisanal high rez pixel art. while this can lead to it looking like a flash game or something at first glance real heads will appreciate that migami simply needed more pixels to fully convey the sense of horror and adventure

Sounds like how Lecarde Chronicles 2 was, and that was one of the best fangames I've played.

What's she doing there? Is this a new emerging trend?

the game just isn't fun, it doesn't have the TRVE Castlevania feel, it's hard yes but with little to actually justify the struggle, it's just one boring screens after another
Anonymous No.715362918 [Report]
I played it and got to one of the endings. Not sure if I have it in me to get the true ending.

Looking for blood donors, obviously...

She's a special crossover guest character from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Seems kind of boring. Who thought that Castlevania 2 should be mimicked?

I thought the sprite work was pretty nice. Pretty detailed, color palette sets off a spooky mood, readable.

Well its by the same devs so that makes sense.

>Who thought that Castlevania 2 should be mimicked?
I think Castlevania 2 has sort of a cult following, where people will look at the game and want to expand on what's there. Which is why there's so many fangames and original games that use elements from it.

Imagine what Castlevania games would have been like if Simon's Quest hadn't sucked
I bet we would have gotten something like CotW before SotN

This better be an rpg like castlevania and not hollow faggot shit

Castlevania 2 fascinates a lot of people because its obvious there's a lot of untapped potential in its design. Honestly its not even that bad of a game in an adventure game sense.

Its like a mix between Simon's Quest and the IGAvanias, yes there's RPG elements like leveling, stats and equipment.

I really liked Lecarde Chronicles 1 and 2 so I plan to buy it eventually just to give the dev some money

It feels a bit like a proto-survival horror when it comes to stuff like the day-night cycle or the time limit for endings. It even gets kind of tense when you're hoofing it from a mansion to a merchant in town with a bunch of hearts, one life left, and the clock ticking.

Thoughts on the insta kill traps? I found them kinda amusing, helps that most if not all of them were close to a save point.

I remember getting killed by that petrifying room. Didn't really expect that they would put a trap indoor. Lost some progress and had to replay it again. Pretty annoying desu. I'm still shocked there wasn't a fake save room too.

That caught me as well, but in hindsight there were petrified people right in front of the statues so that was kinda on me.

What does movement progression look like? Are there any interesting options available or is it just limited to double jump and some type of flight at endgame?
Anonymous No.715383505 [Report]
>>715381528
Out of order: Air dash, double jump, slide, a lot of key-like one time use items, walking on water, walking on lava, walking through thorns, using air jets for high jumps, walking on tightropes, breathing under water, swimming through underwater currents, enabling certain platforms to move, temporary invincibility
You eventually get three air dashes and two double jumps
