>>715367117>Man, if you throwing out functional equivalenceIf you imply that math is functionally equivalent to formal logic, I kinda doubt you know what either math or formal logic is.
>>715367254>elaborate on this please.Pretty much everything about Platonic philosophy is based of Indian philosophical trends. The extreme emphasis on reincarnation, the notion of "highest oneness", separation of soul from the reincarnation cycle to lead into realization of identity with that oneness, that is literally just fucking Atman.
Greece was in extremely close economic and cultural trade with India at the time. I'm not implying anything negative by this, for the record. I'm not in any way lessening the importance of Platonic philosophy. The concepts were imported, but the formalization that Plato gave to it was uniquely his an an amazing intellectual accomplishment.
But it's also what constituted the key divide between Platonism and Aristotelianism. Aristotle was far more rooted in the more Greek-specific logocentrism (it's why he took such an obsessive interest in developing logic), where as Plato was very heavily leaning towards pantheism and effectively mystical insight.
It's just how things work. Cultural diffusion was the strongest cultural force in the world, and Indian philosophy was diffusing into Greece hard.
