How hard will the next Hyrule Warriors game flop? It feels like no one wished for it, and after the reveal no one still wants it.

Hyrule Warriors Complete is one of the best musou games of all time because it has a trillion characters, maps, and challenges. It has all the Zelda games (not even all the characters, so there's room for more). It has all the Zelda artstyles.
These new Hyrule Warrior games are stuck in the ugly Breath of the Wild style only, have no characters, and few levels.
Maybe not relevant on Switch 2, but Age of Calamity literally runs at an N64 framerate on Switch so even the gameplay is terrible.

>Hyrule Warriors is a love letter to the entire series with so much content you could play for hundreds of hours and still not finish it all
>Age of Calamity pigeon holes itself into being set in the past and even with time travel in the premise it has a piss poor roster of characters and way less content and mission variety than its predecessor
>for some fucking reason the new game is set EVEN FURTHER in the past with EVEN LESS characters that anyone gives a shit about

What the fuck are they thinking? Who the fuck are you going to play as? Are all the precious characters going to both inexplicably make time jumps to justify having them be playable or is it going to be Zelda, Raura and some generic champions? WOW! Masked Goron! Who gives a shit?

Based. I really like Terrako's flashback mission.
>Terrako arrives before the war has even begun
>In Hyrule fields the Hylian soldiers are trying to contain a monster outbreak
>Navigate your way through it to reach the Colosseum
>There the corrupted past Terrako consumes the life of some monsters and transforms into fucking Mutated Ganon, the strongest form of Calamity Ganon
>Terrako and Mutated Ganon butcher each other so hard they both lose all their power, beginning the game properly with Link finding Terrako
>Calamity Ganon only reclaims his power to transform into Mutated Ganon again near the end of the game

Age of Calamity and Totk really killed my interest in the botw. I'm not expecting an overly mature story from a Zelda game, but it really seems like they've gone out of their way to kiddiefy everything. I remember how expected everyone was to see Link sacrifice himself against the guardian horde to save Zelda in age of calamity, only for them to pull the alternate timeline bullshit for everyone to live happily ever after. I don't know why they even bothered pulling the fake out death for Zelda in the next game, it was obvious that wasn't going to happen for real

>piss poor roster
AoC roster is more mechanically diverse than HWDE but they really stretched BotW's meager content fucking thin reaching as far down the barrel as letting you play as the fucking sheikah monk. I honestly have no idea what they were thinking with Imprisonment other than uhhh we have the assets might as well milk them because TotK left the sages nameless and faceless. I believe in Omega Force's capacity to prop up even the most ill-conceived crossover but holy fuck they have their work cut out for them.

I am pretty excited for it. Age of Calamity is easily my favourite musou game by a pretty wide margin.
But for Age of Imprisonment I really couldn't give less of a fuck about the past sages. They were nothing-characters and I'm unsure of to what degree Koei could change that even if they tried to. But being able to play as Mineru I'm very much looking forward to, and I kind of hope we get to play as some kind of hybrid-dragon Zelda at some point. And I'm sure that most of the AoC characters will return for AoI anyway.
I do hope AoI makes strongholds and allied NPCs more relevant than in AoC though. But I'm fairly hopeful for AoI in general. I am thinking it's likely to be an improvement, and if it is then I'll probably love the game.

Wasn’t really excited for it since I didn’t think that that BOTW’s world needed more games after TOTK, but now I warmed up to it and am bit more excited.
The biggest problem I had with AoC was that it was a what if story instead of an actual prequel, which this new game won’t be according to early interviews so this mean that the story won’t be a complete throwaway this time.
