it's been some time since I played GalCiv but I feel like it's a lot simpler than TI in terms of mechanics and also diplomacy is way inferior to military while in TI it's the opposite

Only did a 2-session campaign though, and I don't like those types of video games.

I rolled Fremen the first time and had a blast jihading the Harkonnen schmuck into a fury, culminating in a traitor reveal that really fucked him for good, then I allied with my Spacing bro and we spent the rest of the game running down the clock like assholes until we won.

Twilight Imperium has nothing to do with Dune. Twilight Imperium Rex is a rebranded Dune because FFG didn't get the rights to Dune.

Personal dynamic is a big part of it, he's my best friend of 25 years. Its not the same if I just drop into an unaffiliated group just for the experience of playing the game itself

I'll have to talk to him to see if we can make that a recurring thing that is separate from the Saturday sessions.
If there's a vidya adaptation thatd be great since we could chip away at turns without having to haul the game out for a single uninterrupted session.
