Basically they artificially extended the time it takes to do the same stuff you did 10 years ago.
First they started adding hundreds of decorative blocks with no purpose across biomes, then they changed the textures to have less contrast and resemble a color shade rather than a material block and the final nail in the coffin was to make biomes a lot bigger, a lot harder to traverse and full of huge ugly caves that protrude like gaping wounds on the surface
In 2015 it’d take you 15 minutes to build a house. Now you need an hour and still not settle in a good place to build with adequate blocks to build.

I don't mind the new updates. Nothing is there which takes away from the core gameplay. I don't like a lot of the new additions but occasionally something I like will be added like copper golems.

I think that's a skill issue. 2011-2021 biomes just were flat everywhere. you're just nostlagic for the longest era of Minecraft world generation

i miss my old xbox 360 friend who i played minecraft with. ngl he's probably one of the last people i used a mic on online games with.
had a bunch of different worlds, i remember one we had where we built bases on opposite sides of a mountain and then built separate tunnels to each other with a minecart track. many many memories.
