people praising open world zeldas have not played open world games and they are clueless about how actually good open world game looks.
The map in zelda botw is terribly designed. Play some ubisoft games, and you will understand how open world map design should look at bare minimum

The Last of Us is also regarded as one of the best games ever made, and that game is a huge turd. Expedition 33 is regarded by many as the game of the year, many even tout it as one of the best JRPG styles games ever made, even though the game is mediocre and the story is dogshit. I dunno man, it's not like popular opinion is always correct.

The Last Of Us was incredible. Never played the sequel, I could see the creative decisions would mean I'd never enjoy it. But I never see anyone explain why TLOU2 is bad, they just rant about the story.

I haven't finished playing E33, I currently have it on GamePass.
