I don't get how this is real criticism. The actual system isn't nearly as lazy or uninspired as you're suggesting, since it's incredibly robust, flexible, and creative. A better criticism would have been to throw harder puzzles at the player to solve with these tools.

Not a huge fan of skill trees but I don't see how destructible environments are a bad thing. what we've seen of the platforming looks super lick

stupid doomposter ignoring the new jumping, grind rail tricks, rebalanced carts and items, better optimal coin thresholds, riding on walls, all the *actually difficult* paths that take a real mastery of tricks to do consistently, if at all, etc..
