Also they're apparently extending the life of vanilla 10 anyway.

I don't see what the big deal is about it no longer being updated. Just.. keep using it? Most people procrastinate like hell on keeping their software and hardware updated anyway. As long you aren't an idiot about what you download there's no reason you won't be safe in perpetuity.

I'll probably swap to Linux. I think most of my games can run natively on that anyway but I'm figuring out Wine and stuff on a laptop I put mint on a few weeks ago for this shit.

No homo but I'm already using Linux Mint. I do have a Windows 10 partition that I guess I'll need to update to Windows 11 if they've changed the hardware requirements to make it possible for me to do that. Otherwise I'll just wipe that Windows 10 drive for extra storage and then get the cheapest Windows 11 laptop for anything I still need to do on Windows (which doesn't include gaming; I only use Windows for work).

Use with Win10 LTSC Iot version, it will get security updates until 2032 and has no bloatware like the Microsoft App Store or Cortana/Copilot.

Yup, just make sure you choose the right option in the installer.
It wouldn't hurt to make a backup or system restore point though

Linux is better than Windows a bunch of ways but I don't like to shill it because the more people use Linux, the less cool I feel for being part of a sekrit club.
So can you guys please just stick with Windows? Thanks.

Try Linux Mint, it has its flaws plus a slight learning curve, but I would take that over Windows any day.

I've been using Manjaro, works great for everything I've needed and is incredibly lightweight. No issues that took longer than 5 minutes to solve in 8 months aside from one unity indie game, I recommend having a side partition with Windows though probably if you like multiplayer games due to anticheat

All distros need tinkering (yes ALL of them), so pick a popular one like Ubuntu or Mint if you want answers to problems to be one web search away.

I switched to Linux last week.
I thought gaming on Linux was still a meme but it is -literally- as easy as it is on Windows; install Steam, download games, click Play.
So far there is only one game that doesn't work properly. For cases like that I will keep Windows 11 on a separate drive but now I spend more than 90% of my time on Linux.
