He was right when he said that instead of giving you a button to press to clearly choose between throwing the ball at the couple or the moustache man, they've should've make you aim like you would with any weapon, and that it would actually be much more immersive and context appropriate. kino. He hit the nail in the head with each one of the games. I rewatch them every few years and they hold up magnificently.

I cant watch any other retrospective analysis of these games on youtube because they sound pretentious or retarded. Zelda games are very difficult to critique properly but Matt somehow was 10/10 giving actual interesting insight on why these games work besides their individual parts.

the only thing i'd ever add to his observations is that what makes Zelda games be Zelda games is the character-environment interactions. Tools are weapons and weapons are tools, and there are specific mechanics to discover with each of these that help you navigate the world and solve problems. Very few other series really work like this, which is why its truly difficult to find other "Zelda-likes". It has nothing to do with the triforce, ganon, hyrule or the dungeons even. In fact, im hoping for nintendo to release a Zelda game at some point that just switches the world and characters even further than they have. MM thrived because of this.
