What's stopping you from gaming on a CRT?

Nothing, tried playing some Xeno Crisis on Genesis, but I need a 6 button controller.
Spent the rest of my time cleaning my bathroom, and now I don't feel like playing anymore today.
Maybe tomorrow I'll play some Mario Party with my sister

I was looking into those retro filters using ReShade or RetroArch, and apparently, you need a 4K OLED monitor with HDR to really see the best results. It's the most compelling reason I've seen to get one of those. Anyone has any feedback on this?
Real CRTs are just too big. That's the only reason I got rid of the ones I had (TVs and monitors).

Depends on size. A good 20" that you could keep on your desk is like 50 pounds. a 27" is 100.

I don't know where to get a CRT. I'm not buying some secondhand shit someone probably came on.

because after a while the gimmick of playing retro games the "correct" way gets old, and you just want a quick way to play the game. no carts, no wires, no ugly tv. just a computer monitor/smart phone and an emulator.

I still have my original CRT, but overtime I've grown to prefer emulating them in the best quality possible. Stuff like HD, widescreen, and FPS hacks does wonders in making a lot of older games feel timeless.

Nothing at all. I am and do and have three. I just finished a short session playing OoT on my 27" S-Video Sony Trinitron battle station. New game. Made it to visit Zelda in the garden, returned the cuccoo lady her cuccoos, found the super cuccoos at Lon Lon, got the Sun Song and opened the path to Goron City in the Lost Woods. Beautiful game.

Some great YT videos on why this is still the best way to play older games. I hope you younger guys can find one and give it a real chance if you like old games. Not just a display, it's a feel
